Fed: Uniform school holidays plan opposed

Experts say any move to standardise school holiday periods in Australia could have
a devastating impact on the nation's tourism industry.

Managing director of the Australian Tourism Export Council .. MATTHEW HINGERTY .. says
the proposal would create an artificial seasonality.

He says it wopuld also raise serious accommodation .. travel and safety issues.

The warnig came after the federal Opposition said it wants to see uniform school terms
across the country.
