FED:China biggest security challenge since WW2

CANBERRA, Feb 7 AAP - The rise of China's military and its potential to dominate the
Western Pacific poses the greatest security challenge for Australia since World War II,
a new study warns.

To meet the threat, a former defence official argues the most robust option is the
acquisition of 10-12 US-made Virginia class nuclear attack submarines and up to 20 surface
warships able to deliver tactical ballistic missiles at long range.
